Bohol – The Islands that keep on giving!

I am woman.

HEAR ME… on the verge of tears, hungover as shit and nursing a funny tummy.

Waking up later than intended after getting unnecessarily off my face with the girls flying from Palawan to Cebu, and then continuing on our beer cruise in our strange little hotel, I didn’t feel ready to get the boat from Cebu to Bohol.

I felt ready for a vitamin drip and a cuddle.

Alas, this young explorer had to set sail with the help of her two besties, netflix on the boat and some salt and vinegar crisps.

Arriving in Bohol was like the sweetest dream. We’d done it. We’d only gone and bloody done it hadn’t we?!

We only had to face one more rocky, albeit nicely airconditioned mini van to take us all the way to the hotel of our dreams in Aluna Beach!

“Come with me
And you’ll be
In a world of pure imagination
Take a look
And you’ll see
Into your imagination…

The Cliffside Resort, Panglao.

You can check out their Facebook page here!

A resort that overlooks the Sea?

Can ya wine and dine?

well located?

A dive centre on the resort itself?

The room worked out at about £11 a night between 3 of us which wasn’t a lot more than the Hostel we stayed in for 2 nights in Palawan that had no aircon.

But, I digress. The hotel was perfect for us as it was slightly away from the party vibe of Aluna Beach and we were able to live out our days as the water babies we’d always wanted to be by diving every damn day and then having beers by the pool.

This Hotel wasn’t a sponsored stay so I’m not being held liable to recommend ya to stay there. For a resort with an incredibly friendly owner that introduced himself straight away and then lowered the price of our room; and then being able to swan around feeling like you’re chucking around the big bucks on a lavish Instagram worthy pool/sea combo, this is the place for you!

Where do you come from?

Where do you go?

Where can I go in old Bohol?

Same same, but different.

The Sunsets in Laguna Beach are second to none and turned me into a massive creep that snapped away at this couple but then emailed them the pictures that I took of them.

I hope that somewhere, somehow, there is a couple using this as their cover photo.

In addition to the beautiful Sunsets, this is the spot where people go to get their drink on. We didn’t get round to dining on the beach as we were given a large amount of warning that all the restaurants along there are terrible so bare that in mind and maybe find somewhere else to eat before you hit the drinking.

No wonder why you fell in love with it. Love the picteresque nature. And that ham omg. Plus, it is good to read that it is affordable. £11 is great price

  2. Such an incredible post! I appreciate all the little details, the humor (yes, Europe can be “whelming”) and the recommendations! You definitely made me want to visit Bohol immediately.

What a magical place! I would’ve loved to stay at the affordable resort overlooking the sea, too! It looks like you had a fabulous time!

I had no idea there was so much to do and see in Bohol! Great tip about doing your research before visiting Tarsiers – so important for our tourism dollars go towards conservation and the survival of animals!

  5. I have to say any legend that includes defecating to form ‘chocolate’ hills doesn’t strike me as all that ‘romantic’ but hey! that’s the thing about traveling you hear some funny and odd tales…………:)

I like anyplace that allows you to live like the rich and famous, but not for rich and famous prices

Panglao looks like an amazing resort! Living it up without going broke is my favorite. I can certainly see how Bohol made you fall in love. Everything about it sounds wonderful!

  7. Oh, this really is a place to recover! 😀 Lovely photos, and I love your little story about the hotel and the owner, so nice.

Bohol looks like a dream. It’s always the perfect holiday when you can dive into the water daily with a drink in hand . Love the sunset photo on the beach. Bohol is calling me!

  9. When you see you are paying that much for a room you are not expecting much. It seems like you got quite the band for your buck for that room. I am not sure if picturesque quite describes it.
